Since its release 14 years ago, Mean Girls amassed a cult-like following and was pretty much an instant classic. The cultural impact, the quotability, and the relatability of this movie was so widespread and has only continued to grow over the last decade. Everyone can quote this movie, even if they haven't seen it. Lines like "She doesn't even go here" and "You go, Glen Coco" have become a part of our regular pop-culture rhetoric.
It is a movie that has all major female characters, the original book was by a female, the screenplay is written by a female and you even spend most of the movie inside the head of the female narrator! But everyone was able to relate to them in some way, regardless of their gender. You either were one of those characters or you know someone from high school who was those characters.
The issues and the characters are still so relevant, it’s easy to watch over and over again. No matter who you are, there is some part of Mean Girls that is accessible to your life and your experiences. It's almost like a John Hughes-esque film for this generation.
